mrtinkles @ 2025-01-30 18:00:55
Howdy diaric1,
Your uploads for Celebrity IOU:
www.opensubtitles.org/en/ssearch/sublanguageid-eng/idmovie-1812031/idmovie-1812031
appear to all be "HI" subtitles.
You can correct these by following the guidelines in the attached link:
forum.opensubtitles.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2595
Thanks in dvance for addressing this...
diaric @ 2025-01-31 19:26:20
hello sir, i hope you can help
thankyou for the note on my Cebrity IOU subtitle uploads being HI and could i please address.
i followed your link, but for the life of me i cant see where i enter the change and move on when done
i have been over and over several times and apparently i am missing something
thank you in advance
mrtinkles @ 2025-02-01 00:04:52
Looked at your uploads today for Season 5 of Celebrity IOU, and you uploaded two files per episode on a few entries, yet both were designated as HI subs which need to be corrected also.
Anytime a subtitle has atmospherics included, this is designated as “HI” or “SDH”, and when uploading needs to have the:
Subtitles for Hearing Impaired box checked.
This is item 9 from the HOW TO CORRECT/REPORT SUBTITLES GUIDE
link:
forum.opensubtitles.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2595
that I previously referenced.
Please note that atmospherics are specifically for SOUND based notations within the subtitle, usually, but not always enclosed by paren or bracket. Those enclosed in brackets or paren not addressing sounds, such as descriptive notations, are not considered “HI” or “SDH” subtitles.
Please use your Aussie Gold Hunters as a reference, note that the included (SIGHS), (LAUGHS) entries make this a HI sub.
Hope this helps.
diaric @ 2025-02-02 05:17:04
Thank you for your note about HI/SDH subtitles. I guess I will have to look closer before I upload. I was hoping the system picked that up and catagarized the subtitle, but I guess not. Its much harder to pick up on this with foreign languages.
mrtinkles @ 2025-02-02 06:33:19
Freeware is available that can make bulk scanning of files simple to help in identifying. Programs such as TextCrawler can be set up to scan multiple file types through Folders and SubFolders of subtitles, using search function for indicators such as paren or bracketed atmospherics.
Just for reference overload, atmospherics can also be identified by all caps such as LAUGHS, SIGHS, CAR BACKFIRES, etc. Usually though, these are predominately found on BBC releases.
Also comes in quite handy when making corrections and bulk editing files by using replace function.

diaric @ 2025-02-02 18:57:23
Thanks again
i skimmed through my uploads and see that most of the HI files were sensed by your system and labeled as such.
the few that you have listed seem to be ones that slipped past your software.
i think I fixed all the ones that you notified me about
take care Mr Tinkles
mrtinkles @ 2025-02-19 16:46:22
Howdy diaric,
Please, do not upload series with year instead of season in filename. This causes huge problems within the DB. Use standard format of SxxEyy to identify – Season xx Episode yy. Avoid other numeric descriptions.
Your Mythbusters are out of sync due to this, our parsing system does not sort by year, but by season ID per IMDB for bulk uploads.
Please go through and re-identify to correct format as above. This will allow proper distribution of episodes to proper sync per IMDB.
These have been disabled, so all new uploads will have to be altered slightly so as not to be considered duplicates. Just change the initial and final entries by 1ms, and this will allow you to upload the corrected versions.
Hope I explained myself properly, if not, drop me a PM and I can help in clarifying any questions.
Thanks for your hard work…
diaric @ 2025-02-19 21:16:22
Thank you for the explanation and i will try to re-number them. This is one of those shows, that the season names were changed by The TVDB to years instead of actual seasons but I see that the IMDB has not changed and that's what you're system is synched too.
I am also hoping this is the proper way to reply to you as i have happened on another issue with: -The Repair Shop
www.imdb.com/title/tt6685272/
I'm not sure if i can explain(remember) the issue i had correctly. if you look in the TVDB there is two numbering systems, Aired Order and Production Order
www.thetvdb.com/series/the-repair-shop
IMDB appears to be aired order and most of your seasons appear to be production order Except season 6, That one doesn't seem to follow the same as the other seasons. This is a show that has had the episodes and season numbering changed several times. There were actual times where the aired order kept bouncing back and forth over a couple seasons. Anyway, if you see another issue there, please let me know and i Can try to correct.
Another issue I keep running into is Specials like the Christmas specials. Technically, they are season 0 and but I have had issues with uploads matching to the Specials listed for each season.
diaric @ 2025-02-19 21:59:55
OK so how am i to fix some of these ?
an example is www.imdb.com/title/tt1177694/
I have changed the episode to non year season as per your request and there is no Subtitle showing on the site, mits empty.
yet I cannot upload the corrected file number, it just returns as disabled by you
kinda stumped
mrtinkles @ 2025-02-20 17:09:30
Howdy diaric,
I will go ahead and correct for you, can do it much quicker at this end. Might take a bit of time though to sort through.
For reference: When uploading, ALWAYS use the IMDB SxxEyy to name your file to be uploaded. Example S01E01, S01E02, etc.
Then, when you upload in bulk, the “release name” will populate correctly, also based on this entry.
Don’t use TMDB for sequence, or those from NF or AMZN or any other streaming service for file naming. This could potentially create erroneous episodes out of sync.
Yes, IMDB is not perfect, and does sometimes rearrange series and episodes. Don’t worry about this, we’ll deal with those incidents when we can.
Please note that I referenced changing times by 1ms in my previous comment. This is so that our system will not recognize it as a duplicate.
For Christmas Specials and other special episodes, first search on google or IMDB as they might have a unique ID independent of ties to the series. I see this in many instances.
If no reference on IMDB exists, or no unique ID exists, then use the root series ID to upload.
Do this separately from the normal bulk uploads to parse, just unique episodes without ID.

These will show up under “Unclassified”, but will be tied to the correct series.
Anyway, will tackle these when I have a few moments, should show up shortly.
diaric @ 2025-02-20 18:35:29
Thank you very much for helping me out. i changed the remaining episode names and finished up the mythbusters series. i noticed that i somehow did a few incorrectly and went back and fixed them.
i have experienced many issues over the years in show names.I have them named to satisfy Sickchill to show me what's upcoming and then Plex uses a different format to list episodes to playback.
spurt @ 2025-02-20 20:24:46
Hello,
same observation as mrtinkles - uploads for your "School Spirits" uploads either have 2 files for the same episode marked HI. I've changed a numbdr of tiumes but if you want to gain a rep for accurate uploads, can you please be careful about marking your subtitle files correctly?
UsenetAlias @ 2025-02-20 21:47:16
Hi,

Can you please check if certain Dutch subtitles are already available on Open Subtitles? Usually they are ;)

Reacher S03E01: www.opensubtitles.org/nl/subtitles/12985724 is a duplicate of www.opensubtitles.org/nl/subtitles/12984972

Thanks in advance!
Verdike @ 2025-02-20 22:14:45
Hi!
You upload for "Reacher" Persuader S03E01 for the Hungarian section is a semi duplicate (slight diference in timing).
Please do not upload duplicates, check first, it just cause a lot of unnecessary work for admins, thank you.
UsenetAlias @ 2025-02-21 00:06:59
No, he doesn't check at all. Again 2 duplicate subtitles. Maybe block persons for some languages? :)
diaric @ 2025-02-21 02:12:33
TY for all the kind words.
I doubt I will even bother trying to help out any longer. I just spent far too much time trying to fix issues with your uploader not identifying languages only to be greeted with all this.
Mascipula @ 2025-02-21 03:46:21
Stop inserting duplicates
UsenetAlias @ 2025-02-21 11:20:23
Why do you act like bitten by a dog? You do unwanted things. We mention that and ask you kindly (many times!) to stop doing that. Don't talk to us that way, you need to adapt to the guidelines. Always check before uploading and if that's to much work, we should do it for you? No. Doesn't work like that. Quality above quantity. Thank you.
owla @ 2025-02-21 08:09:02
Removed several duplicates, please do not make them more!
mrtinkles @ 2025-02-22 17:37:50
Howdy diaric,
For your "Son of Critch" uploads:
www.opensubtitles.org/en/ssearch/sublanguageid-eng/idmovie-1105478
New submissions are interspersed with basic dupes with ~20-30 ms minimal offset of your previous uploads. If you want to revise, use edit and corrections forms and submit revision roll. Whether .ssa or .srt, same usable sub. Please note italics missing between submissions. These are required for off camera speech...please note and correct. Submitting HI or with HI removed for same sub are okay to submit, avoid dupe or semi-dupes when one subtitle will suffice for multiple uploads.
Thanks in advance...
diaric @ 2025-02-22 17:57:20
Did you obviously didn't look at them to compare and just assumed. T
hey were not duplicates, they were a different subtitle file from a different video source. Different sizes, times and number of on screen posts. I converted the ASS to SRT so i could compare and ensure that they were different. So after all that time and work, I still get this. Why even bother trying to help anymore.
diaric @ 2025-02-22 19:22:59
TY for the helpful advice that aids in this Learning Curve. You have been my only help and it is appreciated.
When I have files in another language, I will just ignore from now on to solve these issues, even if the file is new and been out a few hrs.
I have been taking the time to check for HI/SDH as per your advice double checking and editing it.
I admit that i put to much faith in your uploader system to identify duplicates, but for the last ones you disabled,(Son Of A Critch) I did compare them to ascertain a difference.
It may look like I have been uploading very quickly, but an example of "Repair Shop", I spent a few months cataloguing all the subtitles I had. This included a few multiples on some episodes from different sources.I had every except season 9. Unfortunately yes I messed up on the numbering system between aired and production order, as you were showing both, varying by the season and I'm sorry for that.
Two future issues that will come up and not sure how to make you aware. There are two errors on IMDB that have carried over to your site. There are 7 "Favorite Fixes" episodes being listed as season 16 which is incorrect, they should be listed season 0, for specials as they were recap specials. Thus far, there are 14 and growing each week, "The Repair Shop - On The Road" and are listed as Season 17 Which isn't correct. The BBC and TVDB list it as a stand alone show. The current broadcast season is 14 and both season 16 & 17 don't exist yet.
Just trying to make you aware, as it will be an upcoming listing problem.
mrtinkles @ 2025-02-22 18:06:54
Hello diaric,
I saw the previous comment you made:
TY for all the kind words.
“I doubt I will even bother trying to help out any longer. I just spent far too much time trying to fix issues with your uploader not identifying languages only to be greeted with all this.”
Okay, I know it can be a bit frustrating at first as a new uploader, but also, the amount of uploads you are doing currently are far too many to do accurately.
If I may, please take these suggestions as intended. As with the other admins, we receive hundreds of subtitle submissions each day, and when multiple issues come through repeatedly from one source, it can be frustrating on both parties. Remember, admins volunteer our time also, and commit many hours a day for various reasons to contribute.
My first suggestion is to NOT use one of the availble uploaders for OS. Use the WEB portal and familiarize yourself with the basics of uploading. It is more accurate using manual entry of the various fields and understanding what their purpose is. Auto uploaders in my past experience just create more issues, much like the concept of AI and MT. I’m sure I will get some mail over that comment.
Check your subtiles for accuracy before uploading. A simple word processor or sub editor to check for HI entries such as ( or [ entries will solve multiple ID issues. All CAPS of BBC errors happens….understood.
Check HD and FPS for such as 720 or 1080 source, and add FPS if readily available.
Check for proper filenaming convention in the accepted format of SxxEyy for IMDB compliance, do not use other sources such as TMDB or streaming service orders.
Check for additional filename info such as source material to include…resolution audio, source such as NF, AMZN, TGX, etc. This helps in identifying proper subtile to video source.
Check previous uploads from other users, or your own previous. Make sure that they are singularly unique, and not just a slight variation that really adds no value.
SLOW DOWN. Yes, the site can be a bit addictive and the desire to upload EVERYTHING is compelling. There is no value added if we have to repeatedly address issues and back and forth comments.
Ask questions. Regardless of our disagreeable reputation, we do try to be helpful if at all possible. But it works both ways. You can always PM one of the admins if you have a question.
All of us here have gone through the same learning process, it just takes time to find your own proper pace.
Hope this helps a bit, feel free to reach out.
regards, mrtinkles
diaric @ 2025-03-06 18:40:28
you are very welcome.
I didn't realize I had almost all of these, till I started uploading.
I only filled the holes. I didn't bother looking at the ones already there.
mrtinkles @ 2025-03-06 17:26:04
Thanks for addressing and uploading the "Forged in Fire" series.
diaric @ 2025-03-06 19:14:03
I did have a couple odd issues with episodes being matched to odd IMDB numbers, but I think I caught most of them and fixed.
diaric @ 2025-03-06 22:35:10
Thank You for your Kind words earlier and all of the guidance you have provided me. Its
much easier to teach someone a better way if they don't have fists up ready for a fight.
just to let you know, before you think i might be duplicating previous uploads. I took a closer look at seasons 1-3 of Forged in Fire and too my surprise, all of the ones I have are different than the ones on file. My seasons are a mixture of files from different sources, yet I haven't found one that is close to the same. Most have different edits, or scenes.
I will upload slowly after I can fully compare. Have a great evening.
diaric @ 2025-03-16 17:19:07
I had New seasons Added to Aussie Gold Hunters tt6186672 & Outback Opal Hunters tt8211564. Do we need an Admin to update the series here or is it a slow filter down?
spurt @ 2025-03-16 20:57:55
Hey,
Perhaps I can help here. The latest 5 uploads of "Aussie Gold Hunters you pushed across were S09E17, S09E14, S10303, S10E07 & S10E01. I'll be going through the subs you uploaded for this TV series on Mar 16th in the next few minutes as I already see an obvious problem with one of them.
spurt @ 2025-03-16 22:25:22
Hi Diaric,
I've finished reviewing the Mar 16 uploads you've made so far for "Aussie Gold Hunters". S09E17, S09E14, S10E03-S10E08. Not sure what happened to S10E02 which I assumed you missed.
There was a problem with the title for S10E01, as it "blanks out for a reason." I verified that you specified the correct IMDB link, but I cannot figure out why it's happening. In fact, I see that the same is also happening for some of your latest uploads for "Outback Opal Hunters" Season 11. Perhaps the uploader tool you are using is mangling the titles somehow. I've deleted the affected file for now. We'd appreciate it if you could upload the affected sub files again individually via our web interface.
If you don't mind my asking
1. What resource are you using for your subs? Are you pulling them from a site or extracting them from the media? I ask because when I look through them, they only include a tiny number of "speaker labels" and perhaps one or two "sounds", which, IMO, is not worth the effort of using them as HI subtitles. I use SRT Cleaner from the Subtitle Tools website to strip all HI-related artefacts from a sub and upload it as a non-HI file after one last check. The site is free and is but one of the many tools and apps I use for subtitling work.
Next, given how prolific you are with the number of uploads and their variety, perhaps you can further streamline your processes. I made some changes to the info you added to the comment fields of your uploads. It minimises the information you must add, and you can permanently save it as a template for all your uploads.
HTH.
spurt @ 2025-03-16 22:26:41
you can view a list of what you'd uploaded at www.opensubtitles.org/en/search/sublanguageid-all/iduser-10128129/a-mysqld
diaric @ 2025-03-16 22:54:35
Thank you for the quick response.
yes,I Am pulling them direct from the media. And i did notice the same thing about a very small amount of Hi labels. I actually wondered why there wasn't a differention like SDH for a full set of Aids and Hi for just a minimal amount.
I use Subtitle tools to convert formats or adjust timings and it also has a clean feature.
anyways, i looked at some of them and was also stumped. Some have seem to be adding fine and next one is missing info. I just uploaded most of these season's on IMDB, as they were several years behind. So it could be links there are upgrading and changing.
Thank you so much for your suggestions. My uploads will probably slow down a bit, unless I find few more shows that i have data on.
I will take a look at your template and see how well it works for me. Thank you again for looking and the thoughtful advice
spurt @ 2025-03-17 15:08:28
I'm new to the team, so a lot of it is guesswork on my part since I don't have greater knowledge or access to the backend systems and software they use for the site. I am guessing any "structural" info updates may take a while to propagate through the systems si if you spot any mistakes, make correction and wait 24h to see if the changes are effected.
No worries about slowing down your pace. I'm sure the community appreciates your uploads, and more importantly, we would advise you not to "burn out" after an extended period of the frenetically you've been uploading it. Perhaps, rather than a "jack of all trades, master of none" type situation, you can opt to focus on more specific niches of TV shows / movies?
diaric @ 2025-03-17 18:47:39
Thankyou Spurt. so many comments to reply to So i may miss some replies. I uploaded directly on the site, Outback Opals, season 12 and 13. I had no issues but that doesn't mean much. Its cumbersome and its so easy for me to lose my position, and feels lacking for info added. As of yet, the seasons don't show, under the title but does under my name, will give it time to filter down or get approved.
Yes, season 13 only has a disappointing
3 files. And Spurt, I am focussing on niches now, places i have lots of files but seem behind. Outback Opals and Aussie gGold are good examples, if seasons are missing, then the files probably are too.
diaric @ 2025-03-16 23:35:31
So I tried to upload Aussie.Gold.Hunters S10E01 & Aussie.Gold.Hunters S10E02 manually and both of them kicked back as already in the system.
I remembered a question I had. I was sure I read on site, that the format for the uploaded subs doesn't matter, they get converted to SRT. But I see that the ASS files, are staying , so is it advised that I convert them to SRT?
re: the titles blanking out. I was thinking that maybe I accidently uploaded some with the title in my saved format and not as the release title. But i don't think that's quite it either.
diaric @ 2025-03-17 00:44:36
I have couple more seasons to add, but will wait a day or so. IMDB has a bunch of episodes that are scattered across a couple seasons, still waiting approval. A bunch of these episodes that you mentioned that have very few Hi markers, I just remembered that these ones auto checked the Hi box. I took a look to confirm, and saw a few, but you're right, it took a few scrolls.
mrtinkles @ 2025-03-17 01:54:33
Howdy diaric,
IMDB appears up to date on both series that you are uploading, but since their last site makeover and new coding, it takes a little more time now to “sync” with our database and populate the new episodes.
For the new uploads where seasons/episodes are not visible yet in our directory tree, you can go ahead and upload them to the root ID for the series. They will be at least be tied to the structure with visibility for our review under “unclassified”. They will backfill and populate the episodes when the two DBs sync up, and the series parses at a later date.
As I believe I recommended before, try using our web portal for uploading. For the episodes that are kicking back as pre-existing, if you upload via our web portal, any rejected file should provide the link to the existing files that are causing the problem. Please note that the rejection criteria is content comparison based, and not file naming based. Whether .ssa or .srt makes no difference. Give this a try, use a program such as ExamDiff
www.prestosoft.com/edp_examdiff.asp
to compare the separate files once identified.
If all else fails, you can send me the files to review and upload under your user account.
diaric @ 2025-03-17 19:02:55
Thank you for the advice and being so patient with me Mr Tinkles, I must have read about SSA & SRT files on another webpage, info starts blending together after a While.
diaric @ 2025-04-02 20:28:22
hello sir, hope I find you well.
I have uploaded a number of subtitles for Barnwood Builders. I noticed that IMDB was missing the last 3 seasons, so I added the info there and it was posted almost immediately.
I am still waiting for seasons 16,17 & 18 episodes to list here. is there something you guys need to do, or is it just a wait & wait & see?
Thanks Guys :)
spurt @ 2025-03-17 15:14:56
I updated S10E01, and I also managed to track down S10E02, which was languishing in no man's land, and I made some changes. I saw that it was subtitling work by Skorpion, so I updated the upload with relevant info for his stuff, like enabling the HD flag and updating relevant FPS info. I'm currently waiting to see if the changes take.
diaric @ 2025-03-18 20:48:57
I took a look at Outback Opal Hunters and see that the new seasons are now showing here.
but all of my episodes are sitting out in unassigned territory. It looks like the system reset the IMDB numbers that I had entered, so I gather that the system did that because the seasons wern't showing on site. I am going back and editing the correct IMDB per episode to see if it fixes the issue
spurt @ 2025-03-17 15:19:48
both the ssa and srt formats are acceptable in the system and are kept separate as such ie we don't have anything running in the background that will auto-convert them from ssa to srt in OS. Personally, I'd usually upload both versions as people have different preferences.
diaric @ 2025-03-17 18:54:38
To upload both I assume you mean to edit it in or use the web portal to upload more than one at a time. I've had enough grief over uploading dupes that i want to avoid.
